Metuchen Artist of the Year 2018
My art is generated from the stuff of fairy tales and mythology. When I begin a piece I am often not certain what will be created. It is as if some ancient story comes through me and is changed by interacting with my individual consciousness. In this way I feel as though my art work is both personal and universal. The bright vivid colors reflect the Hispanic influence I accrued from travels in South America and living in California and Arizona. My belief is that making art evokes an alternate mode of communication from a time in our lives when we were less encumbered by our left hemispheres and therefore more open to the pure experience of being.
